Wanting to create her own affordable store with a "feel good" atmosphere, owner Anne Kuronyi opened The Attic in September, 2003 in the college town of Kutztown, PA. As a young woman, Anne started in the film industry in New York City but knew she did not want to do it forever. Yearning for a life change, she traveled out west and was first introduced to the concept of 'buy, sell, trade'. Bringing that idea home, The Attic began with just three small rooms, built on a love of vintage clothing, and the support of Anne's family. With a modest amount of money and the necessity to establish a unique DIY atmosphere, Anne's parents got involved building racks and providing items for the store.
The Kutztown store quickly expanded to seven rooms, each one unique and often changing. The Attic opened it's second location in Bethlehem in 2008. In 2009, Anne's sister, Margo, got involved and they opened a third Attic location - The Attic Manayunk, Philadelphia, PA. In 2011, Anne partnered with her mother, Linda, to open The Attic's online store.
The Attic is a unique cross between a consignment shop and a thrift store but the clothing, accessories, and retro homewares are affordable and either new or practically new. All of our items are based on style, condition, sellability, and wearability and handpicked to make you, the customer, feel good about what you are buying. Here at The Attic we aim to provide a fun and engaging enviroment while also offering advice on modern and vintage trends. Working hard to create a dialogue with our customers, The Attic can be found on facebook, twitter, tumblr, our blog, and on youtube. We hope you check us out!
